Dorado 806 Projects is pleased to present 'Lesser Known Monsters', a group exhibition in an annex space in the Bay Area, Mill Valley, CA. Inspired by the title of Kim Fu's 2022 collection of short stories, Lesser Known Monsters makes the strange familiar and the familiar strange, exploring the forces that work below the surface and influence ways of being. Digging into the deep, to the substratum where things are vague, unidentifiable, shapeshifting.

Lesser Known Monsters unearths the hidden, mysterious, insidious, whimsical, shy, fantastical, or simply subconscious monsters lurking. The golden shadow. The hidden obsession. Creatures borne of myth, of archetype. The blind ambition. To name a few.

These works investigate the subtleties of the human experience: what drives us as beings and as artists. Everyone loves a monster story. And everyone has one within.

Featured Artists: Beth Waldman, Cecile, Dero Jenssen, Desert Moonrise, Katie Dorame, Lucy Harrington, Loretta Bozung, Ken Higaki, Kim Farbota, Maude Child, Max Boyd, Micheal McGrath, Priyanka Rana, Shane Kennedy, Spooky Harris, Sylvia Fernandez, Yoon Chang, Amanda Reeves, Meghan DeRoma
