Night Float

Night Float, a solo exhibition by Michael McGrath, curated by Wang Yaoli. Bonian Space, 798 Art District, Beijing, August 5 to September 12, 2023.

Michael McGrath's work is influenced by his love of religion, mythology and the occult, but also reflects his devotion to secular topics. Animals, insects, and plants that actually exist in nature are important images that repeatedly appear in his paintings, and they are often translated and conveyed by the artist with almost childlike imagination - bold and impactful colors, covered with large areas of patterns that often appear in religious art, make McGrath's paintings have a touch of divine expression on the perceptual level in the brushstrokes full of childlike colors.
